Principal's Grants

The GATE Parents Group offers grants to San Mateo Union High School District High School Principals that directly affect the enrichment of GATE students as well as other students. Grants are up to $1,500 and are awarded based on the ability to impact GATE students and the project originality.

Principal's Grants can fund:

• Innovative programs, equipment and materials
• Enriching speakers, workshops, presenters
• Educational experiences that are tied to curriculum
• Innovative technology
• Travel with the greater Bay Area for enriching and innovative programs

Principal's Grants may NOT fund:

• Basic technology that should be provided by the school,Student club expenses or projects
• Books, equipment and materials that are part of the basic, required curriculum and should be provided by the school
• Fees for activities and events taking place outside of the greater Bay Area
• Furniture, infrastructure, or capital equipment (including musical instruments)
• Substitute teachers
• Professional development
• Accommodations
• Travel outside of the greater Bay Area
• Food expenses
• Teachers who have already applied for and received a grant with the current school year
• Teachers who have received a grant previously and have not submitted a completed Grant Report

After the grant funds have been spent, we seek a report on how the funds were spent; what worked and what did not work in regards to the project.
